Oyelakin Olumide, a brilliant Nigerian student, has emerged as the overall best graduating student of Ekiti State University (EKSU), earning a First-Class degree in Statistics with an extraordinary cumulative grade point average of 4.89.
In addition to being the top graduate in the university, Olumide also received awards as the best graduating student in the Faculty of Science and the Department of Statistics, further solidifying his exceptional academic standing.
Taking to Twitter to celebrate his milestone, Olumide shared a heartfelt reflection on his journey, revealing that it was filled with moments of self-doubt, fear, and intense challenges. Yet, he credits his faith in God for seeing him through.
“Through every trial that sought to break me, through every temptation that tried to sway me, there was always One who remained steadfast: my God,” he wrote. “When the nights were long, when exams seemed impossible, when self-doubt whispered lies into my ears, His faithfulness never wavered.”
Olumide’s academic success also earned him the prestigious Funmilayo Igbalajobi Memorial Scholarship. As part of his scholarship responsibilities, he will be mentoring others on how to secure fully funded opportunities, a task he’s eager to embrace.
With humility and purpose, Olumide stands as an inspiration to many—proof that excellence, resilience, and faith can lead to remarkable achievements.
