UNICAL VC Appoints Dr. Virginia Ironbar, Two Others as Directors

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, has approved the appointment of three new directors in the institution.

Dr. Virginia Ironbar of the Department of Continuing Education and Development Studies has been appointed Director of Teaching Practice, University of Calabar.

Similarly, Dr. Gloria Igri Okon of the Department of Modern Languages and Translation Studies has been appointed Director of the Centre for French Language and Digital Technology, while Dr. Philomena E. Asuquo of the Institute of Oceanography has been appointed Director of the Institute of Oceanography.

The appointments, which were conveyed in separate letters signed by the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka I. Icha, are for a period of two years in the first instance, with effect from November 3, 2025.

According to the letters, the new directors are expected to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the effective administration and development of their respective directorates.
