A student, Seyi Simon, was killed during a clash at a freshers’ party at the Federal University of Education Kontagora, and the suspect, Jafar Musa, is now in police custody.


A welcome party for new students at the Federal University of Education, Kontagora ended in tragedy in the early hours of Thursday, April 5, 2026, after a student lost his life following a violent altercation inside the school hall.
According to police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun, the incident was reported at about 1:40 a.m. at the A Division in Kontagora. The victim, identified as Seyi Simon (25), was involved in a dispute with Jafar Musa (18), a resident of Angwan-Gwari.
The disagreement escalated, and Musa allegedly attacked Simon with a dagger. The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Kontagora, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
Police have taken the suspect into custody and say investigations are ongoing. Authorities have urged students and members of the public to remain calm while the legal process continues.
The incident has deeply shaken the university community and raised concerns about safety and security during campus social events.
