A Nigerian man was left heartbroken after dropping out of UNILAG and sacrificing his education to sponsor his girlfriend’s studies in the UK, only to later discover she had married another man abroad and cut off communication with him.

A Nigerian man has shared an emotional story about how he abandoned his studies at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to support his girlfriend’s dream of studying in the United Kingdom, only to later discover that she secretly married another man overseas.
According to the man, they were in a relationship for five years and had built plans for a future together before she relocated abroad. Believing in their shared dreams, he reportedly left school and started working so he could financially assist her education and help her settle in the UK.
He explained that after her relocation, their relationship initially remained stable as they communicated regularly. However, things later changed when she allegedly became distant, reduced communication, and stopped responding as often as before.
The devastated man said he eventually learned through the woman’s younger sister that she had married a white man abroad without informing him. He further claimed that she later blocked his phone number, leaving him shocked and without any explanation or closure.
His story has since sparked conversations online, with many social media users discussing the dangers of excessive sacrifices in relationships, especially long-distance ones. Others sympathized with him, while some advised people not to give up their personal goals entirely for a partner.
The incident also reminded many users of similar viral stories involving couples whose relationships ended after one partner relocated abroad.
