JAMB has released 279 previously withheld 2026 UTME results after investigations cleared some candidates of malpractice, while other suspicious results remain under review.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released 279 previously withheld results from the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) after completing investigations into suspected examination malpractice.
JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, announced the development in a statement shared on Thursday, May 21, 2026, explaining that the newly released results are in addition to those earlier made available to candidates nationwide.
According to the board, some results were cancelled after investigations confirmed cases of malpractice, while others were released because there was no strong evidence against the affected candidates. However, JAMB stated that results from centres where suspicious activities were detected by its monitoring team remain withheld pending further investigations.
The examination body advised candidates who are still unable to access their results to check their status by sending “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during UTME registration.
The announcement sparked reactions from candidates and parents on social media, with many expressing relief over the release of the withheld results. Some candidates also complained about difficulties accessing their registered phone numbers, while others asked for updates concerning mop-up examinations and underage candidates’ results.
JAMB also reminded candidates that printing of the 2026 original UTME result slips has not yet started due to ongoing examination processes and post-assessment adjustments, assuring the public that the portal for printing will be activated soon.
Meanwhile, the board recently activated the 2026 UTME change of institution process, directing interested candidates to visit accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres to make necessary corrections or changes to their institution and course choices.
The UTME remains one of the major requirements for gaining admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.
