Firdous Bakare, an outstanding student, has set an extraordinary academic record by graduating with a perfect 5.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in Computer Science from Afe Babalola University, Nigeria. Her remarkable performance earned her the prestigious title of Best Graduating Student in both the Department of Computer Science and the university’s College of Sciences.
Reflecting on her success, Firdous shared her thoughts on LinkedIn, stating, “My past self could never have imagined finishing with a first-class degree in a STEM field—let alone a perfect CGPA of 5.0.”
Firdous’s achievements extend far beyond her academic performance. She was inducted into the esteemed Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), a milestone in her professional journey. Despite starting her studies at the university as a transfer student, she triumphed over challenges with the unwavering support of her family, friends, lecturers, and mentors.
Expressing her gratitude, she said, “I am deeply thankful to my parents, siblings, friends, supervisors, lecturers, and most importantly, Almighty Allah, for guiding me throughout this journey.”
In addition to excelling academically, Firdous was an active leader and participant in extracurricular activities. She served as the Academic Director for the Nigerian Association of Computing Students (NACOS), ABUAD Chapter. She also represented her university at a tech convention hosted by Babcock University, where her team won an inter-school debate competition.
As a passionate athlete, Firdous was a key member of her university’s volleyball team, showcasing her dedication to balancing academics and sports.
