Akpoazaa Foundation Rewards UNIZIK’s Top Graduates with N500,000

The Akpoazaa Foundation, led by Dr. Frank Igbojindu, awarded N500,000 to UNIZIK’s top three graduating students to promote academic excellence, alongside donating a 500-capacity tent for the convocation, while urging more investment in education.

In a bid to promote academic excellence and human capital development, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akpoazaa Group, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, has awarded N500,000 to the top three graduating students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State.

Dr. Igbojindu, an alumnus of the university and a seasoned accountant, established this annual financial award to recognize the best overall graduating student, the best graduating student in the Faculty of Management Sciences, and the best graduating student in the Department of Accountancy.

Speaking at the university’s 19th Convocation Ceremony, where 8,157 students graduated, he emphasized that education is the most valuable gift one can offer to secure a child’s future. He urged other successful individuals from Anambra State to invest in education, describing it as the most sustainable path to wealth creation and societal progress.

“An educated person is never a liability to society,” Dr. Igbojindu remarked.

Having fulfilled his pledge of N500,000 to the top scholars, he reiterated that his passion for education and academic excellence aligns with the mission of the Akpoazaa Foundation, which aims to empower students and foster a culture of scholarly achievement.

The beneficiaries of the Akpoazaa Foundation Awards include:

• Egwuchika Tochukwu Onyeze – Overall Best Graduating Student (CGPA: 4.95, Electronic & Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering) – ₦250,000

• Ozobialu Ekenedilichukwu Melvi – Best Graduating Student, Faculty of Management Sciences (CGPA: 4.75) – ₦150,000

• Martins Obinna Kelvin – Best Graduating Student, Department of Accountancy (CGPA: 4.51) – ₦100,000

Beyond the financial awards, Dr. Igbojindu, through his company Akpoazaa Event Planners, also donated a 500-capacity tent for this year’s convocation ceremony.

Expressing gratitude, he acknowledged the role UNIZIK played in shaping his career. “This is my alma mater, and this is my way of giving back. I earned all my degrees—including my PhD—from this esteemed institution,” he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Egwuchika Tochukwu Onyeze expressed appreciation for the generous gesture.

“It’s inspiring to see a foundation recognizing education as a worthy investment. I deeply appreciate Dr. Igbojindu for his kindness, and I pray that God blesses him to continue this noble initiative,” he said.

Egwuchika also shared insights on academic success, attributing his achievements to focus, discipline, and a supportive network.

“I surrounded myself with the right people and minimized distractions. Many students struggle because they don’t actively engage with their studies. Teaching others helped me retain knowledge better,” he explained.

He also credited his success to divine guidance. “I relied on God, and He directed my path throughout my academic journey,” he added.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, extended his gratitude to Dr. Igbojindu and the Akpoazaa Foundation for their continued support. He encouraged other individuals and organizations to follow this exemplary act of investing in education.
