Two Schoolgirls, Motorcycle Rider Killed in Rivers Road Crash

Two female WAEC candidates and a commercial motorcycle rider lost their lives, while several others were injured, after the motorcycles carrying the students home from their examination centre collided with a truck near Choba Bridge in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A tragic road accident in Rivers State claimed the lives of two female students and a commercial motorcycle rider on Wednesday along Choba Bridge on the East–West Road in Port Harcourt.

According to eyewitnesses, the students had just completed their ongoing West African Examinations Council examinations at Odoha Community Secondary School in Emohua Local Government Area and were travelling home when the motorcycles carrying them collided with a moving truck.

Witnesses said the crash resulted in the deaths of the two students and one motorcycle rider. The examination centre was reportedly about 30 minutes away from the accident scene near Choba Bridge, a busy area within Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Several other passengers sustained injuries and were taken to University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.

Security personnel from the Choba Divisional Police Headquarters arrived at the scene to control traffic and maintain order following the incident.

As of the time of reporting, the Rivers State Police Command and the Federal Road Safety Corps had not released any official statement regarding the accident.
