A brilliant Nigerian woman, Sarah Amash, has secured the highly competitive Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, earning a fully funded opportunity to pursue a two-year Master’s degree across four European universities.
Sarah, a 2019 graduate of the University of Benin with a second-class upper degree in Social Work, gained valuable work experience before earning admission into the Erasmus Joint Master’s in Social Work with Children and Youth (ESWOCHY).
The program, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, is coordinated by Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania and includes partner institutions such as Riga Stradins University (Latvia), the Catholic University in Ruzomberok (Slovakia), and ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal).
She was one of 97 Nigerians selected for the 2024 Erasmus Mundus fully funded scholarship, describing it as both a blessing and a testament to her passion for social work. She had also applied for the Australia Awards Scholarship but was accepted into Erasmus Mundus before completing that process.
Sarah credits her achievement to God, hard work, and the unwavering support of mentors and loved ones. She emphasized how her volunteer work with NGOs, leadership development, and experience serving underserved communities helped her stand out in the selection process.
Sharing her excitement on LinkedIn, Sarah expressed deep gratitude to her parents for their sacrifices and encouragement, acknowledging their role in shaping her success. She looks forward to studying in a multicultural environment, expanding her knowledge, and using her education to make a meaningful impact.
As she embarks on this new journey, Sarah remains committed to giving back through her social work foundation, The Guided Group, which empowers young people and supports underserved communities.
