A FUTA first-class graduate went viral after a Lagos clinic declined her job application but encouraged her not to “lower her standard” because they believed she deserved a better opportunity.

A first-class graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has sparked conversations online after sharing an unusual response she received from a clinic in Lagos where she applied for a job.
The story gained attention after a social media user, identified as @_raesparkles, posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation involving her friend’s job application. According to the post, the graduate was hoping to relocate to Lagos for employment and submitted an application to a private clinic.
Rather than receiving a conventional acceptance or rejection message, the clinic reportedly responded with words of encouragement. The message stated that after noticing her first-class degree, they believed she deserved a better opportunity and advised her not to settle for less.
The response read: “Hey Linda. First Class honours? There is something better for you. Please don’t lower your standard. All the best.” The unexpected nature of the reply quickly attracted widespread reactions across social media platforms.
Information shared alongside the post identified the applicant as Linda Omotayo Aisida, a Physiology graduate from FUTA. She reportedly earned a first-class degree and graduated on November 12, 2024.
The exchange has since generated mixed opinions online. While some people praised the clinic for recognizing the graduate’s academic achievement and encouraging her to pursue bigger opportunities, others questioned why she was not considered for the role if she was qualified enough to apply.
