The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Benue State University Chapter, Dr Kwaehfan Tarmombo, has debunked rumours that the lecturers of the institution are on strike.

He told DAILY POST that the lecturers would need approval from the national body of the union before embarking on a strike. He however said they are protesting unpaid salaries.
“We are not on strike; we are only protesting the payment of our salary. Salary of March was paid on April 20 but up till now we have not received any other salary”, he said.
When asked whether academic activities were shut down over the protest, he simply said, “we are here”.
However, a senior lecturer in the department of Mass Communication, John Orgi, posted on his official Facebook page that the lecturers have downed tools.
“Breaking News, BSU Lecturers have embarked on an indefinite strike action over non-payment of salaries and allowances”, he posted.
Similarly, some students of the university, who spoke with our correspondent on phone, said no lecture was going on in the school premises.
