Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has said that insecurity should not be the reason for the scrapping of the scheme.

Speaking on Thursday in Abuja during a journalist colloquium organised by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Chapter, he said; “if the NYSC is scrapped due to insecurity, what then happens when the issue of insecurity is sorted out.”
Ibrahim, who spoke through the Director, Press and Public Relations of the scheme, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, said the scheme had always worked with all security agencies to ensure that Corps members were safe wherever they are.
He noted that without the permission of the security agencies, no corps member is posted to any troubled state.
