Cursory: One of Africa’s Billionaires, Herbert Wigwe, has decided to go back to school and pursue a law degree. Wigwe thinks that people shouldn’t be prevented from pursuing their passions because of their age or any other reason.


Herbert Wigwe, Nigerian Billionaire and the CEO of Access Holdings Plc, the organization that owns Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, has started a new academic adventure to earn a law degree.
Wigwe made the decision known via his Twitter account and followed it with a stirring statement.
He claimed that his decision to enroll again in school despite his current circumstances should serve as a lesson. Wigwe urged young people to follow their passions regardless of their age or any other barrier.
“To the African youth: don’t let age or any other factor hold you back from pursuing your passions.
“As I embark on getting a law degree at a later stage in my life, I hope to inspire others to never stop learning and growing”
Wigwe’s professional journey commenced at Coopers & Lybrand Associates, an international firm of Chartered Accountants.
He then joined Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, where he worked for nearly ten years until being promoted to Executive Director. Wigwe began his association with Access Bank when he was hired as the deputy managing director in March 2002.
He was recognized for his exceptional leadership skills and strategic insight, which helped him quickly move up the corporate ladder.
He started serving as CEO in January 2014. Access Bank has made outstanding progress under Wigwe’s leadership, including becoming a holding company.
He has pushed the bank’s growth and diversification through wise mergers and acquisitions. Access Bank has expanded its activities outside of Nigeria and now has a significant presence in 18 nations across four continents.
