AFIT Matriculates 1673 Students for the 2022/2023 Academic Session

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna matriculated 1673 students into 9 faculties and 28 departments for the 2022/2023 academic session

Out of the total joint matriculated students, 1466 were admitted into Degree programmes while 147 were admitted into National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.

The event which took place at Ibrahim Alfa Auditorium on Saturday 29 April 2023 had the Commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Wonah as the Guest of Honour.  Before presenting his speech, AVM Wonah commended the Commandant of AFIT Air Vice Marshal Paul Olugbeji Jemitola for acknowledging the dedication of workers of the Institute. He also appreciated all the staff as he said they all looked very well turned out.

In his speech, while congratulating the students, he charged them to do better than other universities in Nigeria who do not have the benefit of their theoretical and practical training. He also urged the students to study carefully the contents of the oath of allegiance they had sworn so as to adhere strictly to them.

The Commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology, Air Vice Marshal Paul Olugbeji Jemitola earlier in his remarks encouraged the students to strike a balance between their academics, social and emotional lives while focusing on their goal. This is especially important because certificates are awarded based on learning and character.

The Commandant also reiterated the Institute’s zero stance for cultism, hooliganism, examination malpractice and corruption in any form. He further advised the matriculated students to show respect to the staff and fellow students in order to make their stay fruitful and productive. “Be modest and decent in your dressing and approach to issues, eschew violence and actions that may bring the Institute into disrepute” he said.

In his remarks, the Provost of the Institute, Professor Mohammed Dauda urged the students to be purposeful in all their learning activities by taking advantage of the wealth of experienced staff and the practical contents of all AFIT programmes. He also encouraged the students to develop the culture of learning from each other to complement the formal teaching and learning process.

Among the highlights of the matriculation was the presentation of souvenir to the Guest of Honour and group photographs.
