Teaching is such a noble profession. After parents, teachers are the next set of people that have a very strong influence on the growth and development of an individual. Their help, support and influence has made a lot of people who are great in their own paths in life.
This is not to say that there are no bad teachers. Which is the more reason why we should appreciate teachers who helped us and not take them for granted. World Famous Footballer Victor Osimhen, has shown exactly how to be appreciative no matter how big one gets.
Victor Osimhen, the striker for the Super Eagles, recently paid a visit to a woman who played a significant role in helping him achieve his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
This heartwarming encounter between the two has garnered widespread attention, and a video capturing their emotional meeting has gone viral, with people admiring Osimhen’s deep appreciation.
According to Prime Business Africa, the footage shows Osimhen arriving at his school campus and warmly greeting a teacher. They exchange a few words before sharing a heartfelt hug.
During his time in secondary school, Victor Osimhen had a strong desire to play football. However, his father disapproved of the sport, considering it a pastime for those who dropped out of school.
Determined to pursue his passion, Osimhen sought assistance from Mrs. Augustina Atanda (née Okwechime), the Games Master at Oregun Senior High School in Ikeja, Lagos. Being a former hockey player at the Federal Government College in Warri, Atanda empathized with Osimhen’s aspirations and decided to support him.
She took the initiative to approach Osimhen’s father and offered to personally mentor the young footballer. Although Osimhen’s father had some reservations, he eventually agreed.
Many years later, as Osimhen became a highly sought-after player linked with clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and PSG, he visited Mrs. Atanda to express his gratitude for her invaluable contribution in kickstarting his football career.
Osimhen has returned to Nigeria and is reflecting and posting about his journey back home. In another Twitter post, he wrote, “Returning to where my football dream and journey began in Olusosun gives me so many goosebumps. I am humbled and grateful for the roots that shaped my dreams. This is me once again appreciating their love and support and I will always cherish Olusosun and its people. Thank You!”
