Success Ayagwa, a 400-level student at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), ran 64 kilometers to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, demonstrating his patriotism and athletic talent while receiving praise for his perseverance and potential.

Success Ayagwa, a 400-level student at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna, ran 64 kilometers to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary.

The long-distance run, held within the Nigerian Air Force Base in Kaduna, began at 5 a.m. and concluded at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. After completing the run, Success explained his motivation: “I wanted to show my love for Nigeria and highlight my talent in long-distance running.” He acknowledged the difficulty of the five-hour run but credited perseverance for his success.

This is the second year in a row that Success has honored Nigeria’s independence with a notable run, having completed 63 kilometers last year.

His coach, Sergeant Wayo Emmanuel, Chief Instructor at AFIT’s Office of the Director of Sports, discovered Success’s talent two years ago and has since helped him grow as an athlete.

Emmanuel noted that Success placed 7th at the Okpekpe road race last year and is optimistic about his potential, given his age and dedication.

Wing Commander Bassey Okon, AFIT’s Director of Public Relations, commended Success for his determination and encouraged Nigerian youth to embrace such a mindset for the country’s future success. He also highlighted the leadership of AFIT’s commandant, Air Vice Marshal Saleh Rabe, in fostering student excellence. Success’s achievement, he added, reflects AFIT’s commitment to developing outstanding talent.
