Cursory: A suspected sex worker, Esther John, has confessed that she resorted to prostitution business because she lacked the money she needed to complete her academic studies

Esther John from Akwa-Ibom State, the suspected sex worker, was among the 20 suspects arrested in Onitsha, Anambra State by Operatives of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade.
While making a statement, Esther revealed that she was in her final year in the university when she was introduced to the business, with the intent of using the proceeds to complete her school clearance and project work.
In her words;
“I’ve been struggling to complete my studies due to financial constraints. I was looking for money to complete school clearance and project when a friend introduced me to the business.
“Today is my first day to be here. There is no money for my project. The date for the defence has been fixed for next week and they said if I must defend, I must pay all my fees. I don’t have shishi (a dime) and there is no one to run to.
“Since my HND 1 till now, there has been nobody to pay my fees. The person assisting me before now has died. If there’s anyone who can help me, I won’t come back here again.”
The Secretary-General, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone F, Comrade Ifeyinwa Felix, expressed her shock;
“I was heartbroken seeing the young girls, especially as a female. Most of them are like my younger sisters.
“My advice to them is to arm themselves with some skills, just as I appeal for government to assist in fixing them appropriately,” she said.
Not Just, Esther, but other of her colleagues were arrested as well.
