Bricklayer’s Son Resumes School After Scholarship Saves His Dreams

Idris Abdulrasheed Adeiza, a talented bricklayer’s son from Kogi State, resumed his studies at FUTA to study asoftware engineering after receiving a scholarship from philanthropist Alex Onyia, following viral recognition of his financial struggles despite scoring 323 in UTME.

Idris Abdulrasheed Adeiza, the son of a bricklayer from Kogi State, has resumed his studies at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), after receiving a life-changing scholarship.

Idris, who scored an impressive 323 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and gained admission to study software engineering, initially faced an uncertain future due to his family’s financial struggles. His father’s bricklaying income was insufficient to cover the cost of higher education.

The young scholar’s story went viral on X (formerly Twitter), touching the hearts of many. Philanthropist Alex Onyia, CEO of Educare, stepped in to sponsor Idris’s education. Onyia shared photos of Idris arriving at FUTA and praised his determination and drive.

“Today, Idris officially begins his university journey at FUTA. Despite scoring above 300 in JAMB, he had no means to further his education. I admire his strong determination and pray he excels and impacts the world,” Onyia posted.

The gesture has drawn widespread praise, with many commending Onyia’s support for underprivileged but talented students and celebrating Idris’s perseverance in pursuing his dreams.
