BUA Donates N280m Publishing House to Babcock University

The AbdulSamad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has started constructing a N280 million publishing house at Babcock University to enhance the institution’s press and support students in communications and media studies, reflecting ASR Africa’s commitment to education and health initiatives across Africa.

The AbdulSamad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has commenced the construction of a N280 million publishing house at Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun.

ASR Africa, the philanthropic arm of BUA Group’s Chairman, AbdulSamad Rabiu, focuses on education and health initiatives across Africa.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, ASR Africa Managing Director Dr. Ubon Udoh, represented by Multilateral Coordination Specialist Nakama Keri, stated that the project would upgrade the university’s press to a modern publishing house, incorporating publishing, print production, and related services.

The new facility, a one-storey building, will serve as a laboratory and studio for students in communications, media studies, and related fields.

Udoh revealed that 22 out of 100 tertiary institutions were selected for a N280 million grant initiative, highlighting the foundation’s $100 million annual grants for projects in social development, health, and education since 2021.

He emphasized ASR Africa Chairman AbdulSamad Rabiu’s commitment to supporting quality tertiary education in Nigeria and stressed the importance of collaboration between the university and the contractor for timely project completion.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Ademola Tayo expressed his gratitude for the university’s selection under ASR Africa’s Tertiary Education Grant Scheme, noting that the project aligns with the university’s vision to elevate its Mass Communications department.

Prof. Tayo highlighted the critical role of the publishing house in fostering academic knowledge and urged government support for philanthropic contributions to education and social development.

ASR Africa, established in 2021, aims to provide sustainable and impactful solutions to health, education, and social development challenges in Africa.
