Female students pressure Unicross lady to accept marriage proposal from man who funded her education

A viral video from the University of Cross River State shows female students confronting a lady who rejected a marriage proposal from a man allegedly sponsoring her education, sparking debate online about financial support and relationship expectations.

A dramatic moment reportedly unfolded at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) after a female student rejected a public marriage proposal from her boyfriend, who was said to have been financially supporting her throughout her university education.

The incident, captured in videos that quickly circulated across social media, has sparked widespread debate about relationships, financial assistance, and expectations between partners.

According to reports, the man visited the university campus to surprise his girlfriend with a marriage proposal and an engagement ring. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the student declined the proposal in front of other students, triggering tension shortly afterward.

Students react to rejected proposal

In one of the viral clips, several female students were seen confronting the lady after she turned down the proposal.

The students questioned why she would accept financial help from the man over the years if she had no intention of marrying him. Some voices in the crowd could be heard urging her to reconsider, insisting that she should accept the proposal because of the support he had given her during school.

Social media debate follows

The incident has since fueled heated discussions online, with Nigerians expressing mixed opinions on the matter.

While some social media users argued that receiving major financial support from a partner could create expectations in a relationship, others maintained that assistance should not automatically guarantee marriage or emotional commitment.
