BUK Expels 171 Students Over Fake Admission Credentials

Bayero University Kano expelled 171 students for using fake admission credentials and dismissed another for assaulting invigilators during an examination, reaffirming its strict stance on discipline and academic integrity

The Senate of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has approved the expulsion of 171 students for using forged documents to secure admission into the institution.

This decision was reached during the university’s 433rd Senate meeting held on March 4, 2026, as disclosed in an official bulletin issued by the institution’s Public Affairs Directorate on behalf of the Registrar.

According to the statement, the affected students were found guilty after a thorough investigation by the Senate Committee on Entry Qualification Irregularities, which uncovered inconsistencies in their admission records.

The university explained that the students violated its academic rules by submitting falsified credentials, an offence that falls under Section 20.7, Category A (vii) of its General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR), which mandates expulsion.

In a separate case, the Senate also approved the expulsion of a Civil Engineering student, Yusuf Muhammad Sani, for engaging in physical violence during an examination. He was reported to have attacked invigilators and disrupted the exam process, an act that breaches Section 20.7, Category A (vi) of the university’s regulations.

BUK reaffirmed its commitment to upholding academic integrity and discipline, stressing that it will continue to enforce strict penalties against any form of misconduct.
