BUK Expels 60 Students Over Exam Malpractices

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has expelled 60 students for examination malpractice following its January 7, 2026 Senate meeting, reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy and commitment to academic integrity.

Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has taken a strong stance against academic dishonesty by expelling 60 students from various departments for their involvement in examination malpractices. The decision was made during the university’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting held on January 7, 2026, after reviewing findings and recommendations submitted by relevant academic and disciplinary committees.

The expelled students were found guilty of violating the institution’s examination rules and regulations, prompting the university to reaffirm its commitment to maintaining academic integrity. BUK warned that it would continue to apply strict sanctions against any form of examination misconduct to deter future violations.

The university’s action is in line with its zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice, emphasizing that strict penalties would be enforced to maintain academic standards. This move underscores BUK’s dedication to upholding the credibility of its academic processes and degree awards.

BUK’s decision to expel the students serves as a reminder of the importance of academic integrity and the consequences of engaging in examination malpractices. The university’s stance is expected to promote a culture of honesty and fairness among its students.

This is not the first time BUK has taken drastic measures against examination malpractice. In April 2025, the university expelled 62 students and rusticated 17 others over similar offenses, demonstrating its consistent commitment to maintaining academic standards.
