COOU Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Kate Omenugha announced that the university earned over N1.5 million from vegetable sales in three months, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to transforming into a leading educational center by adopting a private sector approach and exploring new revenue streams.

Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam, Anambra State, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, announced that the university has generated over N1.5 million from vegetable sales within just three months.

Prof. Omenugha made this announcement during the presentation of the recently concluded organizational review report at the university’s Senate Chambers in Igbariam on Tuesday.

She stated, “Our vision is to transform this University into the leading educational institution in the South East, Nigeria, and even beyond!”

“We can achieve this goal by adopting a private sector mentality, which will prevent us from merely becoming a factory for graduates and instead establish us as a distinguished center of learning.”

Prof. Omenugha also expressed her commitment to exploring other income-generating opportunities, especially in agriculture.

She urged recipients of TETFUND’s Institutional Based Research (IBR) program at the university to make the most of this opportunity by striving to publish their research in prestigious international journals.

The VC highlighted the importance of hard work, dedication, and adherence to regulations to improve service delivery and assured the university staff that her administration would prioritize their welfare while ensuring efficient job performance.
