200l Female University Student Goes Missing in Edo

Cursory: Residents of Iru Egbede community in Edo State mourn the disappearance of 19-year-old Faith Omodon, a 200-level Business Administration student at Delta State University. Faith was last seen on March 30 when she left for her father’s farm. Despite searches by villagers and the vigilante group, Faith remains missing. The case has been transferred to the state police command for investigation.

Residents of Iru Egbede community in Edo State are in sorrow following the disappearance of 19-year-old Faith Omodon, a 200-level Business Administration student at Delta State University. Faith was last seen on March 30 when she left home for her father’s farm.

According to Faith’s father, Edward, the incident happened during the Iru National Conference, a yearly event in their community. He recounted that loud cries broke out during the conference when news spread that his daughter was missing. Faith had left for the farm earlier that morning, taking her breakfast with her on a motorbike.

“We usually have the conference at this time of the year. We were seated inside the community hall when we heard loud wailing outside that my daughter was missing.

“She had left for the farm earlier that morning with a motorbike taking her breakfast with her,” he said.

Confirming the story, the head of the village vigilante group, Ikpoba Johnbull, mentioned that they immediately searched the area, including neighboring villages, but found no trace of Faith except for her leftover food in a flask. Despite spending the night searching in the bushes, they couldn’t locate her. They advised Faith’s family to report the case to the Abudu Police Division.

In his words:

“We immediately mobilised and combed the area up to Izighiri and Uwumuwe, two neighbouring villages, but could not find any trace of her.

“We only found the leftover in her flask. We informed our neighbouring vigilante groups as we spent that night inside the bushes, but there was no result.

“We then advised Omodon to formally report a case of missing person at the Abudu Police Division.”

The National Youth chairman of the community, Mr. Donald Egboko, expressed the community’s sadness and urged security agencies to assist in finding Faith. The case was reported to the Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Iyayi Kenneth, who confirmed it and stated that it has been transferred to the state police command for further investigation.

When contacted, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, promised to provide updates after consulting with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

“I will find out from the CID and get back to you.”

The community remains hopeful for Faith’s safe return as efforts continue, to locate her.
