Principal officers of The Federal Polytechnic Offa have donated 100 bags of rice as a palliative measure to lower cadre employees of the institution to complement the efforts of the Federal Government during the sit-at-home period.

A statement signed by the Head of the Corporate Affairs of the Polytechnic, Olayinka Iroye, said this became necessary to assist the staff members at a time when families consumed more food at home and prices of essential and household commodities had gone up.
According to the statement, 466 junior staff members benefitted from the principal officers’ gestures which was to cushion the effects of the ‘stay home, stay safe’ directive of the Federal Government as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The rice was distributed to the staff at the mini campus of the Polytechnic on Saturday.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Lateef Olatunji, said the magnanimity was at the instance of principal officers of the Polytechnic including Rector, Deputy Rector Administration, Deputy Rector Academics, Registrar, Polytechnic Librarian and Bursar.
He further promised that the gesture would continue as long as the stay at home period lasted.
One of the beneficiaries, Usman Olabanji, appreciated the Rector and other principal officers for the foodstuff at this period when staff members on the lower cadres were vulnerable to the economic hardship being experienced as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown
