FG Condemns Attack on Ondo Vice Principal During WASSCE Over Exam Integrity Enforcement

The Federal Government has condemned the assault on an Ondo vice principal by thugs allegedly hired by a student’s parents for enforcing exam rules during the 2025 WASSCE, vowing prosecution of all involved and reaffirming its zero tolerance for exam malpractice and intimidation of educators.

The Federal Government has condemned the assault on Mr. Rotifa, Vice Principal of Complete Child Development College in Akure, Ondo State, who was allegedly attacked by thugs reportedly hired by a student’s parents after he enforced exam rules during the ongoing 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a statement released Tuesday by the Federal Ministry of Education’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, the government described the incident as unacceptable and urged law enforcement to investigate and prosecute those responsible to the full extent of the law.

The attack allegedly followed Mr. Rotifa’s refusal to allow the use of a mobile phone during the examination—a clear violation of WAEC guidelines.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on exam malpractice and any form of intimidation against educators, the ministry commended the swift action taken by the Ondo State Government and Police Command in apprehending the suspects.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasized that any student found engaging in malpractice will face appropriate sanctions, and any parent or guardian complicit in such acts will be prosecuted. He encouraged schools to report any threats or misconduct immediately to authorities.

“We are working closely with state education ministries, law enforcement, and examination bodies to reinforce the security and integrity of national examinations,” Boriowo added.

The ministry expressed strong support for Mr. Rotifa and all educators across the country who uphold discipline and academic integrity in the face of rising pressures and threats.
