A University of Benin student in his last year was fatally murdered by a shooter in Edo State.This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by the university’s spokesperson, Benedicta Ehanire.
Mrs. Ehanire claimed that the student was gunned down on Monday night in a university living hall by an unidentified assailant.However, she withheld the victim’s name, simply stating that his nickname was “Mayor”.
“While commiserating with the family and colleagues of the late student, management enjoins other students to be calm as police as well as other security agencies are working hard to fish out and arrest the culprit,” she said.
The spokesperson stated that management of the institution was “closely working with internal security units” of the institution to stop similar attacks from happening again on university property.
The man was shot at his university Hall Three Residence, according to a student who wished to remain anonymous.He was the only one. (killed in the attack). He was shot in the face twice, the student claimed.
