FUGUS Important Notice To All Staff and Students

Federal University, Gusau, FUGUS management has appealed to staff and students to remain calm and go about their normal activities.

The University Management is deeply touched by the unfortunate incident that occurred at the wee hours of Thursday 21st September, 2023 where some of our female students, staff and other individuals were kidnaped by suspected bandits.

The sad and unfortunate incident has indeed thrown the University community into serious tension and apprehension.

It is against this background that we appeal to students and staff to remain calm and go about their normal activities while the security Agencies are doing their best to rescue the remaining students and other individuals that are still in captivity.

Management wishes to assure Students and staff that necessary measures and efforts are being made to ensure safety of all on the campus.

It should be noted that so far a total of 16 abductees have been rescued, including 14 students and 2 others.

While we commiserate with one and other, especially with the families of the affected students and other individuals, we wish to further stress that it is important to keep calm in this sad and painful situation we found ourselves in.

We wish to use this medium to thank the Federal Government, the Zamfara State Government and other Stakeholders for identifying with the University and giving all the necessary support and encouragement.

Management thanks and appreciates all and sundry for their show of concern and solidarity in the face of this painful and unfortunate incident.

We wish you well in all your endeavours as we look forward to the safe return of those in captivity.
