Okoroafor Emmanuel Chinedu, a final-year student and Commander of the Man O’ War Security Organization at FUTO, was arrested for alleged rape following multiple accusations and a petition by the Onurube Gender-Based Coalition, prompting legal proceedings.

The arrest of Okoroafor Emmanuel Chinedu, a final-year Environmental Science student at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), has shocked the university community following multiple rape allegations involving female students.
Chinedu, who is also the Commander of the Man O’ War Security Organization at FUTO, was apprehended by police from the Nekede Divisional Headquarters on the evening of Friday, July 12, within the university premises.
The arrest followed a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, by the Onurube Gender-Based Coalition, represented by Convener Marjorie Ezihe, accusing Chinedu of exploiting his authority to assault fellow students.
In response, Commissioner Danjuma ordered Chinedu’s transfer to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Owerri police headquarters for further interrogation and legal proceedings.
