Ghanaian law graduate Frederick Agaaya Adongo, who earned a First-Class degree from the University of Ghana, secured admission to both Yale and Harvard for an LL.M. program and chose Yale for its prestigious, highly selective class.

A brilliant Ghanaian scholar, Frederick Agaaya Adongo, has achieved an outstanding academic feat by earning a First-Class degree in Law from the University of Ghana and securing admission to both Yale and Harvard University for a Master of Laws (LL.M.) program.
Frederick began his legal education in 2015 at the University of Ghana, where he completed his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 2021 with First-Class honors. He then proceeded to the Ghana Law School, successfully completing his training and being called to the bar as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
His academic excellence earned him offers from two of the world’s most prestigious law schools—Yale and Harvard. Faced with the challenge of choosing between the two, he ultimately decided to enroll at Yale Law School, citing its small, highly selective class size, which admits only about 25 students globally each year.
Frederick expressed immense pride in being the first Ghanaian and one of the few Africans in decades to gain admission into Yale’s LL.M. program. He described the experience as surreal, admitting that studying at such elite institutions once seemed like an unattainable dream.
Reflecting on his journey, he attributed his success to divine intervention and the unwavering support of his mentors, family, and friends, particularly Nana Dr. S.K.B. Asante, whose guidance played a crucial role in his achievement.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Frederick looks forward to an enriching academic experience at Yale, where he hopes to learn from some of the world’s finest legal scholars. “Here’s to new beginnings and endless possibilities,” he said.
