Hezekiah University has awarded ₦20 million in annual scholarships to 50 students, as part of efforts to promote academic excellence and will hold its maiden convocation on March 8.

Hezekiah University, through the generosity of its Proprietor and the Archbishop of Living Christ Mission, Inc., Prof. Daddy Hezekiah, has awarded scholarships totaling over ₦20 million to 50 deserving students.
This announcement was made by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Okere, during a pre-convocation press briefing held at the university’s conference hall over the weekend.
According to Prof. Okere, the scholarship program benefits students across various faculties and departments, with each recipient receiving ₦100,000 annually to support their academic journey. He emphasized that the initiative aims to encourage academic excellence, foster promising careers, and contribute to the overall advancement of education in Nigeria.
Highlighting the institution’s commitment to staff welfare, Prof. Okere, a former Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, also revealed that the Proprietor had approved staff promotions to boost morale and enhance productivity.
Speaking ahead of the university’s first-ever convocation ceremony, scheduled for March 8, Prof. Okere expressed confidence in the preparedness of both staff and students to deliver a memorable event.
As part of the convocation activities, a keynote lecture will be presented by Prof. Aloysius-Micheals Okolie, Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology. His lecture is titled “Paradigm Shift, Soliloquy, and Fungibility of Stemming the Tide of Education Lullaby in Tertiary Education in Nigeria: Opportunities Missed and Paths Not Taken.”
Reflecting on the milestone, Prof. Okere remarked, “I consider it a privilege to serve as Vice-Chancellor during this historic convocation of our great university, which stands firmly by its motto: academic excellence with good morals. We are eager to present our outstanding graduates to the world, knowing they will serve as exemplary ambassadors of this institution.”
The week-long celebration will kick off on March 5 with an Alumni Induction and student seminar, followed by a novelty football match between graduates and undergraduates on March 6, among other activities leading up to the main event.
