An NYSC corps member expressed shock after she and others were abruptly rejected by their Primary Place of Assignment without explanation, saying she never knew corps members could be dismissed during their service year.

A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has taken to social media to express shock after she and several other corps members were abruptly dismissed from their Primary Place of Assignment (PPA).
The corps member, currently serving under the NYSC scheme, shared her experience on X, revealing that the decision came without prior notice or any clear explanation from the organization involved.

Sudden Dismissal Without Explanation
According to her account, all corps members posted to the same establishment were relieved of their duties at the same time. None of them was informed of the reason behind the action, leaving everyone confused and unsettled.
She admitted that she was unaware corps members could even be dismissed from their places of assignment during service.
Corps Member Speaks Out
Identified on X as @barokahoyin, the corps member explained that the incident completely caught her off guard.
Recounting the experience, she said they were instructed to report to the office with their PPA letters. Initially, she assumed the request was for something positive—possibly a December-related benefit or end-of-year gesture.
However, the situation turned out to be the opposite.
“They actually just sacked all of us in my PPA. I didn’t even know corps members could be sacked. They asked us to come with our PPA letters this morning, and I thought maybe they wanted to give us something for December. Instead, they wrote ‘rejected’ on all our letters and stamped them,” she wrote.
Reactions Trail the Incident
Her post quickly gained traction online, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some sympathized with her situation, others shared similar experiences or questioned whether such actions align with NYSC rules and regulations.
As of the time of reporting, the organization involved has not provided any explanation for the dismissal, leaving many to wonder whether PPAs are permitted to sack corps members in this manner under NYSC guidelines.
