The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, has disclosed that the Federal government has finally accepted their payment platform.

Speaking with Seun Okinbaloye, anchor of Channels TV’s Politics Today, the Union’s president said the Chief of Staff has approved the UTAS and it will be implemented across universities.
In his words: “The issue of IPPIS and UTAS has been put to rest because the test has been done. As agreed with the chief of staff, UTAS will be implemented.”

One of the major demands of ASUU has been the adoption of University Transparency and Accountability Solutions (UTAS) as the payment platform for varsity lecturers. Now that the UTAS issue has been resolved, does this mean the strike will be called off soon?
The union president who also disclosed that they will be meeting with FG tomorrow assured Nigerians that if FG accepts the agreement they had with Prof Brigg Committee, the strike will be resolved.
In his words: “If we go to the meeting and FG said ‘what you bargained (with Prof Brig’s Committee), we’re willing to sign’ then sure we will resolve the strike“
