The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has confirmed the arrest of six Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre operators in Kano State for violating the rules of the board in the conduct of the forthcoming examination.

Oloyede who made the disclosure on Wednesday, February 1, said about 34 candidates for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) were also arrested for exam malpractices. According to him, Examination malpractices start at the point of registration by substituting the candidate’s fingers during capturing.
One of the culprits arrested was identified as a law student of the Bayero University (BUK), Kano, who was said to have thumb printed for 14 prospective students sitting for the examination at Butale Computer Centre.
Another person at the same centre was also caught thumb printing for 14 students, while the third person was arrested by Oloyede while registering for six candidates.
Oloyede further revealed that over 500,000 candidates have registered for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination adding that that JAMB’s target this year was 1.8 million candidates and there would not be an extension of the closing date.
