Professor Isiaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), cautioned students on the importance of verifying the authenticity of the provisional admission letters they receive from the board to prevent hindrances in their educational aspirations of gaining admission into tertiary institutions nationwide.
The cautionary message was delivered by the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, and the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu, during the matriculation ceremony of Harvarde College held in Obada-Oko, Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State for the 2023/2024 academic session.
They advised students, especially those enrolled at its Ogun State affiliated institution, Harvarde College in Abeokuta, to steer clear of involvement in cultism. Instead, they emphasized the importance of dedicating themselves to their studies to honor the significant investment made by their parents in their education.
The coordinator of the board in Ogun State, Akeem Abdul-Hammed, speaking on behalf of the JAMB registrar, emphasized that any prospective tertiary institution student who deviates from the proper admission procedures may encounter difficulties in the future. Ogbulu reiterated the institution’s commitment to enforcing expulsion and other penalties against students who violate established standards.
Commissioner of Police Alamutu expressed concern over the prevalence of cultism and related activities in the state, highlighting it as a significant worry for law enforcement agencies.
Dr. Adebayo Ouwatosin, the institution’s president and founder, urged students to maintain focus on achieving academic excellence through diligence and perseverance.
