JAMB Boss Promises Rescheduled Exam For Candidates Who Experienced Difficulties

UTME Glitch Gremlins Vanquished! JAMB Offers Reschedule for Affected Candidates.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) under the leadership of Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has offered reassurance to candidates who faced challenges during the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Addressing concerns raised by some candidates who encountered technical glitches, Prof. Oloyede pledged that those affected would have their examinations rescheduled for a fair chance at taking the test.

Following his oversight of the examination at Kogo-Bwari, Abuja, Prof. Oloyede conveyed that despite minor setbacks, the UTME had largely proceeded smoothly, with only one reported center experiencing issues.

We ask for understanding from the public in such instances; occasional failures at centers are not uncommon. Today, we’ve only received reports of one center encountering problems,” he remarked.

He emphasized the need to manage such situations calmly, noting, “While we do not condone disruptions, it’s crucial to handle setbacks without disrupting others.”

Explaining the protocol for rescheduling, he outlined that affected candidates would be accommodated after 4:30 p.m., ensuring minimal disruption to other scheduled sessions.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the premature awarding of scholarships based solely on UTME performance, Prof. Oloyede highlighted the importance of considering additional admission criteria. He cautioned against such practices, deeming them premature and potentially unfair.

In acknowledging the cooperation of the public, particularly parents, Prof. Oloyede lauded the smooth conduct observed during the examination. He also noted a significant improvement in parental behavior compared to past exercises, emphasizing the crucial role of a supportive environment for students.
