JAMB: Candidates from delisted centres express worry over delay in fresh allocations

The hope of about 2,000 Kaduna candidates who registered for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’ UTME exams in delisted centres are still hanging as they await further directives from JAMB

The candidates expressed disappointment over the delay caused them by their respective centres indicted in JAMB’s infringements.

Though most have printed their slips as directed by the exam board, they were disappointed as they were not directed to participate in Tuesdays exams by JAMB.

DAILY POST recalls that Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Head, JAMB’s Protocol and Public Affairs Department had announced the delisting of 25 CBT centres across the country over infringements.

The Board also announced the delisting of additional six centres across the country on Tuesday.

Five centres in Kaduna State was delisted, including Zabib college Ungwuwar Dosa Kaduna, Bethel Baptist High School, KM 6 Kachia Road, Marmara Damishi, Kujama, Kaduna State, Zaria Academy Km 10, Funtua road, Shika, Zaria, Kaduna.

The board further advised the affected candidates to print their slips and await further directives but most of the candidates who spoke to DAILY POST in Kaduna expressed worry over the delay in posting them to new centres to write the examination.

One of the candidates, who was at the Defense Industry Corporation centre said she came to hear what JAMB officials had to say concerning the issue but was disappointed as there was total silence.

“I followed my friend to the centre this morning to see if I can hear further directives from JAMB officials. But nobody said anything about us whose centres were delisted

Also, in an interview with one of the candidates whose centre has also been delisted, but had printed his slip since Monday.

He said, “I came to the White House to see if they are going to absorb some of us whose centres have been delisted. But they were strictly on those candidates who were billed to write today.

Now, we don’t know our fate, we can no longer do further reading and preparations because already, our spirit and preparations are demoralised.”

Nobody can tell, even if we write, they will do justice to our examinations since they have delisted the centres, only to advise us to print our slip.

A JAMB official who spoke on conditions of anonymity said all candidates whose centres have been delisted would be allocated new centres to write.

She said, no candidate would be omitted as JAMB is already making arrangements for those candidates whose centres have been delisted to write.

“All candidates whose centres have been delisted will be allocated to different centres to write after we are done with those candidates who are writing now.

They must surely write. ” She said

Meanwhile, most centres visited on Tuesday in Kaduna said though candidates complied with COVID-19 protocol, some other candidates arrived 10 minutes before the examination while others were completely absent.
