JAMB Fixes Post-UTME Screening Fee For All Tertiary Institutions

Cursory: JAMB has set the post-UTME screening fee for all Nigerian tertiary institutions. The registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, stated that no additional charges would be allowed, emphasizing that institutions cannot impose extra expenses on candidates. The announcement was made during the 2023 policy meeting in Abuja.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set the post-UTME screening fee at N2,000 for all tertiary institutions in Nigeria. According to The Punch, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of JAMB, emphasized that no additional charges beyond this amount would be permitted by any institution.

Oloyede made this announcement during the 2023 policy meeting held at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja on Saturday, June 24.

The JAMB boss said: “Any institution interested in conducting any form of screening could do so, but the charge for the screening should not exceed N2,000 only.

He further clarified that institutions are prohibited from imposing additional expenses on candidates for screening exercises, including administrative and bank charges.

Oloyede also highlighted that JAMB will provide free access to photo images and fingerprint data of candidates to all institutions, aiming to prevent the substitution of candidates who did not sit for the examinations.

In his words:

“It is not allowed for any institution to make candidates directly or indirectly incur further related expenses on screening exercises, such as administrative and bank charges.

“JAMB will provide for free, to all institutions access to photo images and fingerprint data of candidates, in order to curb the substitution of candidates who sat for the examinations.”
