Katsina Governor Dikko Umar Radda offered automatic employment to Sham’unu Ishaq, a First-Class graduate selling sachet water for survival, as part of his commitment to rewarding academic excellence and fostering educational development.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has provided automatic employment to Sham’unu Ishaq, a First-Class graduate from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University who was discovered selling sachet water to support himself and his family.
In a statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibrahim Kaula, it was confirmed that Ishaq earned a First-Class degree in B.Sc. (Ed.) Education/Biology during the 2021/2022 academic session. After completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Taraba State, Ishaq turned to selling sachet water to meet his financial needs.
“Academic excellence deserves recognition, not relegation to the streets,” Kaula emphasized, highlighting the governor’s commitment to rewarding outstanding achievements and fostering educational development in Katsina State.
The statement also noted that Governor Radda has consistently demonstrated his dedication to promoting academic excellence. On October 12, 2024, he granted automatic employment to nine exceptional graduates of Isah Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma. Similarly, on May 26, 2024, during the 9th/13th combined convocation of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, nine First-Class graduates were offered direct employment.
“Our administration firmly believes that the future of Katsina State depends on harnessing the potential of its brightest minds,” Kaula stated.
