Director of Library Services, Oyadipe Amoo, speaking at the event, highlighted that the competition also served as an advocacy program to promote a reading culture among students in the state. Amoo expressed concern over the declining interest in reading among primary and secondary school pupils and urged stakeholders to implement programs that encourage reading from an early age.

Amoo emphasized the critical role of reading in personal development and noted the state government’s efforts in refurbishing and restocking libraries with relevant books. He lamented that many students now prefer spending time on social media for unproductive activities rather than reading.

Quiz Master Ojutiku Morounfolu praised the students for their impressive intellectual performance during the competition. He attributed their success to the dedication of their teachers and the state government’s commitment to quality education. Morounfolu also underscored the importance of embracing technology in the 21st century and encouraged students to develop their skills to remain competitive and relevant.

Oladipupo Precious, a representative of the winning school, remarked that the program would help foster a passion for reading among students. He stated, “To achieve success, students must study by reading, as it paves the way for freedom and intelligence.”
