This post will present every details about UNN such as founding date, estimated money an aspiring student will spend when he gets admitted to UNN, past heroes of UNN, some amazing inner pictures of the school and qualities of UNN.

I will start by informing you that there are only two Universities in Nigeria, which include; University of Nigeria and Other Universities.

University of Nigeria, Nsukka was founded in the year 1955 by Nnamdi Azikiwe but UNN was officially opened in 7 October 1960.

UNN is very famous and popular because it was was the first full-fledged indigenous and first autonomous university in Nigeria. UNN has fourteen (14) faculties and 105 departments.

The sitting Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of UNN are Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Charles Igwe Arizechukwu respectively.

The University’s has always been known for pegging 200 as its JAMB cutoff mark (but from 2016 – 2019, their cut-off mark was 180). UNN is also a JUPEB affiliated university while the motto of UNN is To restore the Dignity of man.

UNN AMONG BEST UNIVERSITIES IS THE WORLD

According to webometrics 2015 edition ranking, University of Nigeria is the 1st best University in Nigeria, 14th in Africa and 1389 in World.

UNN maintained this awesome position till after the 2017 first quarter  where webometrics revealed that University of Nigeria is the 5th best University in Nigeria, 56th in Africa and 2,652 in World. 

According to webometrics 2020 edition ranking, University of Nigeria is now the 3rd best University in Nigeria, 29th in Africa and 1805 in World.

As a student of the prestige institution, I will put it to you that the university administration is putting everything in place to see that we climb back to our destined position.

ACCESSIBLE INTERNET WITHIN UNN CAMPUS, ANY TIME, ANYWHERE

Though students pay a token for this service, in all UNN campuses (Nsukka – Main campus, UNEC, Ituku Ozalla, UNTH) there is 24/7 free (since the cost is not comparable to its worth) internet access through WIFI (called Lionet)  to all students and staff. All you need to do is request and activate your username and password.

UNN STUDENTS NICKNAME

All UNN undergraduates male and female students are called LIONS and LIONESS respectively. While graduates and Postgraduates male and female students are called SUPER-LIONS AND SUPER-LIONESS respectively.

When we (lions and lionesses) are called we roar just like the lion you know does. We were called after lions because we’re biologically the head of all Nigerian students.

UNN ACCEPTANCE FEE AND SCHOOL FEES

I am stating this because I believe you will soon join me in the LION’s Den. Once you’ve been given admission, you will be required to pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of Twenty-five thousand Naira only (N25,000.00). UNN’s school fees varies from department and year of study. To summarize it, the higher you go, the cheaper it becomes.

ESTIMATED MONEY FOR UNN NEW STUDENTS

For people that will stay in hostel..budget at least: N150,000. You will have change self. Use the change and add to that N500 pocket money (smiles). 

For People that will stay Off Campus:If you will stay in single room, you should budget at least N240,000 while those staying in self-contained should budget N300,000. Trust me, you will have change.. maybe like N10,000 or so…You will have to use the change as your feeding fee throughout your 100level. Don’t go tell dad to give you shi-shi oooo (winkz)
