The Kogi State Government has dismissed several lecturers from Kogi State Polytechnic for alleged sexual harassment, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy and urging victims to report such misconduct.

Several lecturers from Kogi State Polytechnic have been dismissed by the state government for allegedly sexually harassing students, according to Ahmed Usman Ododo, Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Students Affairs.
Speaking at a meeting in Lokoja on the adoption of an anti-sexual harassment policy for tertiary institutions, Ojodunwene emphasized the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on such misconduct, though he did not specify the number or names of the dismissed lecturers.
He highlighted the urgency of addressing sexual harassment, citing a recent incident where a 19-year-old was murdered in a ritual-related crime at the Federal University Lokoja. He noted that many students in Kogi’s institutions have reported cases of harassment by lecturers, with some offenders already dismissed or imprisoned.
Ojodunwene urged heads of institutions in Kogi to take a firm stance on the issue and encouraged students to speak out if they experience harassment. He reassured that victims would be supported and offenders, regardless of rank, would face legal consequences.
“No matter how highly placed a lecturer is, if they harass any of our students and we have evidence, they will be held accountable,” he added.
