Kwara State Polytechnic has received NBTE approval to continue all current programmes and introduce new ND and HND courses in fields including Law, Medical Imaging, Agribusiness, and Mechatronics starting from the 2025/2026 academic session, following a successful accreditation inspection.


Kwara State Polytechnic has secured official accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for all its current programmes, while also earning approval to introduce several new National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) courses beginning in the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Halima Garba, the approval followed a recent NBTE inspection. The NBTE’s letter, signed by Dr. Fatima Umar, Director of Polytechnic and Allied Institutions, granted permission for Kwara Poly to launch ND programmes in:
- Law
- Medical Imaging
- Health Information Management
- Industrial and Labour Relations
- Chemical Engineering Technology
Additionally, the Polytechnic will offer new HND courses in:
- Agribusiness Technology
- Crop Production Technology
- Journalism and Media Studies
- Tourism Management Technology
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Urban and Regional Planning
During her inspection visit, Dr. Umar expressed satisfaction with the Polytechnic’s infrastructure and academic direction. She particularly commended the introduction of the ND in Law, noting its importance in expanding access to legal education at the technical level.
She also applauded Rector Abdul-Jimoh Mohammed and his team for their dedication to academic innovation and urged them to continue introducing industry-relevant programmes that empower students and deter them from unproductive ventures.
In his response, Rector Mohammed thanked the NBTE team for their thorough evaluation and constructive feedback, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to continual improvement and excellence.
Staff and stakeholders have celebrated the development, hopeful that it will enhance Kwara Poly’s impact on Nigeria’s technical and vocational education landscape.
