The Kwara State Government has banned the political branding of educational materials donated to public schools, emphasizing that such practices are inappropriate and must cease immediately.

The Kwara State Government has issued a warning to individuals and organizations intending to donate educational materials to public schools across the state.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the government criticized the practice of branding donated materials with political messages or images, calling it inappropriate and counterproductive. The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Sa’adatu Moddibo-Kawu, emphasized that such branding, particularly those featuring the donor’s image or political affiliations, must cease immediately.
“This practice, which involves inscribing the donor’s picture or other politically motivated symbols on books and other school materials, is unacceptable and should stop,” Moddibo-Kawu stated.
The commissioner reiterated that while the government appreciates and encourages contributions to public education, there is a strict policy against using such donations for political messaging. “Educational materials provided by the state government since 2019 have been free of political branding, including images of His Excellency the Governor, as such practices are deemed unhealthy for young minds.”
The government urged both public officials and private donors to adhere to this policy and expressed gratitude to those who continue to support public education in a non-political manner.
