A Nigerian woman, Dorcas Robert, shared an emotional story of how financial struggles kept her mother from attending her matriculation and, after promising to make up for it, she sadly attended her convocation alone following her mother’s death.

A Nigerian woman, Dorcas Robert, has moved many online after recounting a heartbreaking experience involving her late mother and an unfulfilled promise.
She shared how her academic journey, from matriculation to convocation, was filled with financial struggles faced by her family. During her matriculation, her mother could not attend due to lack of money, but still made efforts to support her from afar.
According to her, her mother prepared a simple meal of oil rice and fried egg, and sent along second-hand clothes through her brother. Unfortunately, the clothes did not fit, forcing her to wear her brother’s shirt instead. To make matters worse, her brother’s only suit got damaged on his way to the ceremony.
The disappointing experience left her mother deeply saddened, and she promised to make things better by attending her convocation in style, ensuring her daughter looked her best and celebrating with a proper reception.
However, when the long-awaited convocation day finally arrived, her mother was no longer alive to fulfill that promise. The lady revealed that she ended up attending the ceremony alone, without the presence and support she had once looked forward to.
Her story has since touched many people, highlighting the pain of loss and the emotional weight of promises that could not be kept.
