A Nigerian man has reportedly abandoned a job that pays him N24 million per year and relocated abroad to pursue a masters degree together with his wife.

The story of a Nigerian man who left a well-paying job in Nigeria and relocated abroad is currently generating furore on Twitter.
According to the story which was shared by @kayodebakre8, the man was earning N24 million per year while in Nigeria, but he opted to move abroad.
He and his wife are said to be running a masters degree in the UK, where they relocated to.
Oluwakayode wrote on Twitter: “24m per annum salary. Comfortable duplex in Lekki. Two kids. Wife works as a BM in a first generation bank. But they resign and start masters in UK. I don’t understand some of these things.”
Some Nigerians on Twitter, where the story was shared, find it hard to believe, but some say the man did it for his kids, below are some of the comments we picked;
@akingbadegroup: “24M what about after tax, 20m, naira depreciate average 25% per annum before December your salary would have depreciated to say 18m. you pay crazy for sch fees 2kids at lekki per annum 3m. burn diesel and other unnecessary costs. Your 2m say monthly salary you barely save 250k.”
Louis Eleodinmuo: “That’s about $40k, this annual salary of the man is about 4months salary of some nurse in uk . They wanted better life. Our naira is fast loosing value and you wouldn’t blame any one that made such decision”
Leo pantro: “I had a friend that said the same thing. Worked in zenith bank, a nice car and a beautiful house and a rich family. No plan of leaving. He received a gunshot injury from robbers while travelling from asaba to Lagos. Only son of the family, he was buried in March”
MistUka: “He also didn’t understand until he was going home from work one evening and a traffic robber on Eko Bridge shot his wife on her left thigh with a locally manufactured pistol and he rushed her to Mainland Hospital in Surulere but was asked to get Police Report. Should I continue?”
Femi Benson: “My cousin told me of a friend of his in d UK who hasn’t slept on d same bed with his wife since Covid.
Guy works nyt shift in London, wife’s on day. Dey switch parental responsibilities by exchanging their 6 y/o boy @ d train station everyday. Dat’s been d routine 4 Abt 2yrs now.”
Pence: “Moving to a developed country is not a trend, relocation has been a vital part of even men that were used by God in the Bible. Leave your fathers house to a land I will show you.”
