A postgraduate student has reportedly lost an opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in a foreign University over plagiarism.
The student had gained a scholarship to pursue his PhD degree at the University of Marquette in the United States of America.
However, the university management whom had detected that he plagiarized his essay revoked his PhD scholarship.

Sharing the story on Twitter, @stelzeey wrote “Dear scholarship hopefuls, do not plagiarize your essay or writing sample. It is a big crime and has no place in academia.Â
“This person submitted a plagiarized writing sample, and his PhD admission was revoked!
“Copying someone else’s work without giving credit is plagiarism, and it is a crime. Even when you need to copy someone’s work, paraphrase and still give credit.
The news has stirred varied reactions from Netizens some of whom has faulted the student for copying another’s work while others blame evil forces working against him.

@shorex_sda: “This is terrible. Why plagiarize? There’s no grace period on a terminated sevis. Now they have to self-deport or risk being placed in removal proceedings.”

Joshua Ufedo Baba : “We carried our attitude outside, it isn’t village people, we are doing ourselves. Once you are writing anything important, employ the use of plagiarism checker. They usually give you the source you copied from. Once you have any material with over 50% plagiarism, you sure copied from somewhere. With technology, it’s going to be hard to cheat.”
