NECO confirmed it has fully paid the 72,138 ad-hoc examiners for the 2024 SSCE, addressing and dismissing social media rumors about withheld payments.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has confirmed that all allowances have been paid to the 72,138 examiners hired as ad-hoc staff for the 2024 School-based Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
NECO addressed recent social media rumors suggesting that the Council had withheld payments from these examiners, categorically stating that such claims are unfounded and false.
In a statement released yesterday, NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, clarified that payments commenced on October 4, 2024, and were processed on a bank-by-bank basis to facilitate smooth reconciliation and reduce potential issues in the payment process.
According to the statement, the Council successfully completed all payments by Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in line with NECO’s established payment schedule.
The statement further explained that some examiners had submitted incorrect bank details, causing minor delays, but NECO worked with these individuals to correct their information.
Payment processes across all 24 banks involved have now been fully reconciled and completed.
NECO urged anyone employed by the Council to seek clarification directly from NECO regarding any concerns rather than turning to the media for issues that could be resolved through direct communication.
