Nigeria Metro Secondary school student dies after alleged bullying in Yobe school

A senior secondary school student of Government Science and Technical College, Potiskum, Yobe State, has died following alleged bullying by fellow students, prompting a police investigation and renewed concerns over school safety.

A senior Secondary School (SS3) student of Government Science and Technical College (GSTC), Potiskum, Yobe State, died allegedly due to bullying by fellow students. The incident occurred Sunday, with classmates attacking him under unclear circumstances.

The student was buried same day in Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area. Yobe State Police spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, we’re aware, investigation is ongoing.”

A teacher anonymously revealed suspected students were handed over to police. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Abba Idriss Adam, promised to comment but didn’t respond.

The incident sparks concern about school safety. Bullying can have severe consequences, emphasizing the need for vigilance.

Police investigation aims to determine the cause. Authorities must act swiftly to prevent recurrence.
