Arthur Jarvis University Expels Five Students Over Bullying, Misconduct

Arthur Jarvis University has expelled five students and suspended five others for bullying, truancy, and misconduct following a disciplinary panel’s decision, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline.

Arthur Jarvis University, located in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, has expelled five students and suspended five others for offenses including bullying, truancy, and general misconduct.

In a statement released on Monday, the university’s acting Registrar, Mary Dan-Abia, confirmed that the decision followed a disciplinary panel hearing, during which the affected students were given the opportunity to present their cases.

The incidents, which involved fighting and gang bullying, took place on December 12, 2024, and January 18, 2025. After reviewing evidence and consulting with key university officials—including the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and Registrar—the panel reached its final decision.

“Following a comprehensive assessment of the situation, five students directly involved were expelled, while five others with lesser involvement received suspensions—three for one month and two for two weeks. All affected students have since vacated the campus,” the statement read.

This action comes just days after the Chancellor warned students against engaging in vices, particularly drug-related offenses. The statement reiterated the university’s firm stance against misconduct, emphasizing that any student found guilty of drug use, possession, distribution, or smuggling would face immediate expulsion.

“The university’s decision serves as a strong deterrent and reinforces the importance of discipline, respect, and adherence to rules. For both the expelled and suspended students—as well as the entire student body—the message remains clear: no one is above the law,” the statement concluded.
